Lesson to be learned from Daniel  / Bob (Close Friend )
Daniel, As another Jewish year opens, I will never forget the way you welcomed me and always kept an open door. You never judged me. You accepted me for whom I am, with no conditions. You never turned away a stranger or a fellow Jew from your heart or home. I wish the people closest to you can learn and follow in the greatness of your footsteps.

I wear your name on my wrist as a daily reminder of your sacrifice which continues to gives us all this freedoms of this country.

Miss you !!! Close

A New Year Thought  / Zoe Kahn (Jewish tribe )

I have saved the article in the NY Times printed in March 2008. I wanted to let you know that I was extremely touched by the story of your son, Daniel.

I have two sons and a grandson that wanted to join the Israeli army. His parents talked him out of it as he is an only child. I cannot even imagine the loss of a child and the pain that continues for each of you. I just want you to know that your son touched people all over the world (I live near San Francisco!) in his too-short life.

As we prepare for our Holy Days I will say Daniel's name during Yizkor. Blessings on all of you.

A Beautiful Poem I found...  / Nicole   Read >>
A Beautiful Poem I found...  / Nicole
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
And I will always love you from that land way up above; we'll be in touch again soon.

P.S.

To Daniel's family:

Please know that I am thinking of him and thinking of you on this Memorial Day weekend.

Tomorrow I am speaking at our local JWV's memorial service and will speak of Daniel--his patriotism and his bravery.

He is in my thoughts often.  May G-d comfort you by bringing to mind only wonderful memories and how sacred was his ultimate gift to us all.

I was so moved by the NY Times article today that I immediately googled Daniel Agami to learn more about his life. He seemed full of energy, and I hope his memory serves as a blessing and a motivator to others to follow their passions and to do what's right. As a Jewish woman and new mom, reading Daniel's emails brought this war home for me as nothing else ever has. Close

To Danny's family:

I read about him in the NYT today, and was so proud that I began to cry on the airplane.

His love of this country and of his people--the example that he set--is so inspiring. I would love to know more about him to share in a sermon to my congregation.

May his loss be a z'chut for us before G-d.  I hope you are comforted by his memory and the inspiration it brings to so many.

For the holidays, it is my practice to donate to the JCCA's fund for Jewish servicemen.  From now on, my contributions will be in Danny's memory.

Thank you for sharing him with us. G-d bless...

A Soldier  / Nicole
A Soldier

There is discipline in A Soldier
you can see it when he walks,
There is honor in A Soldier
you hear it when he talks.
There is courage in A Soldier
you can see it in his eyes,
There is loyalty in A Soldier
that he will not compromise.
There is something in A Soldier
that makes him stand apart,
There is strength in A Soldier
that beats from his heart.
A Soldier isn't a title any man
can be hired to do,
A Soldier is the soul of that man
buried deep inside of you.
A Soldier's job isn't finished after
an 8 hour day or a 40 hour week,
A Soldier is always A Soldier
even while he sleeps.
A Soldier serves his country first
and his life is left behind,
A Soldier has to sacrifice what
comes first in a civilian's mind.
If you are civilian -
I am saying this to you.....
next time you see A Soldier
remember what they do.
A Soldier is the reason our land
is 'Home of the free',
A Soldier is the one that is brave
protecting you and me.
If you are A Soldier -
I am saying this to you.....
Thank God for EVERY SOLDIER
Thank God for what YOU do!
